Yea, we have houseruled that Dark Young transmit corruption.But that's a slippery slope. Once you acquire one, it can trigger acquistion of more. And there are some nasty ones.
If you don't have the Miskatonic expansion, you can also houserule that one of the investigators at setup starts with a Cult membership, so cult encounters enter play.
