Oh, you’re right, my mind went straight to cards and I forgot that Loot also includes Gold. I think you are correct that the rulebook doesn’t explicitly forbid it, but since there is no other “dropping” mechanic in the rules other than Defeat, I assumed Gold followed the same restriction as cards.
