So I got the conversion kit and gave it a play last night.

The first scenario of Castle Daerion I had two open groups, so I picked Bane Spiders and Naga.

I was very disappointed with the Bane Spiders. The group limit was 2 of them with three heroes, they dropped quickly and their attacks were weak because Blue and Red don't have many surges, so I never got off an attack that had both pierce and poison. The heros I was up against all had high awareness so I didn't try the cocoon ability.

I was very happy with the naga though. Black die kept them alive and sorcery always hit hard.

Then for the second scenario, I choose the Kobolds. With 3 heroes the group size is 5 + 2 masters. Masters split into two minions when defeated, so that group can soak up 11 attacks before getting wiped out. With 4 heroes it would take 15 attacks. Yes please!

On top of that, with their swarm ability I got a few hits in that gave me a +4 and a +3, so they can hit really hard, even though they only roll the blue die.

Their weakness is obviously blast. But this was the first quest after the intro and none of the heroes had blast. They are also limited by their 3 movement and they don't generally survive an attack.

TLDR: Bane Spiders are still lame. Naga are good. Kobolds are kinda OP.

What are your experiences with new monsters? What are the hits and misses?
