I just started a new campaign last month and completed it on my 3rd attempt. My first two attempts I lost within the first 20 days due to losing all my crew so I didn't lose that much time by restarting. Playing solo, though. If playing with others probably would have just played through it, unless everyone agreed to restart. And, if it was late game, I'd definitely just find a way to not restart that I was comfortable with.The game offers some advantages to restarting, both in knowledge of story and the map as well as extra starting stuff.
