Christy, I cannot vouch for those Krylon sprays having never tried them. What you are looking for with the primers is a very flat finish that will accept paint and inks and washes without any beading up of the paint. I suggest you practice on something before exposing your M&M minis to these sprays. Many people suggest plastic army men, but any small semi-detailed object could work.

I'll throw my hat into the ring for this thread. Here are the Folk Art colors I came up with:

901 Wicker White
938 Licorice
Flesh color was sold out -- I'll check in one more place.
2560 Bark Brown
2559 Coffee Latte
2551 Moon Yellow
2554 Classic Green (darker green was sold out)
484 Brilliant Ultramarine
437 Lipstick Red
(omitted the "tan" color)
662 Silver Sterling
660 Pure Gold

I was unable to find Testors spray paint at my Wal-Mart, so I purchased two small cans of something called Krylon Short Cuts Hobby/Craft Paint (one white, one black), plus a can of Krylon Matte Finish (can says "seals finished painting projects"). Only the Matte Finish specifically mentions plastic as a recommended surface. If anyone here knows whether these items will work, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. I'm nervous about using these products since they are not specifically what Jerry recommended.

Finally, here's a tip for anyone who's playing it by the book and getting everything on the list. I could not find anything labeled Future floor wax, so I looked it up and apparently the product has been elaborately renamed "Pledge Premium Floor Finish with Future Shine." I assume that's the intended product. Now I just need to swing by a hardware store to see if they have any.

Thanks to everyone (especially Jerry) for sharing painting info!
