The problem I see with this set up is that most incapacitated heroes do no damage (only a few can increase the damage done by others). It makes the game harder than having four functional heroes, each one capable of dealing its share of damage (and counter measure cards) to the villain.
It is an interesting variant (I will probably try playing it), but I wouldn't recommand it for discovering the game.
Maybe I've played too much (and in a few weeks, as I only acquired the game recently) but I really don't find managing four hero decks solo very hard. Though maybe the fact that I've been playing multiplayer games solo for thirty years may influence my judgement :p
