I just ordered a copy of the game, but wonder about something.
Why, if this is a brand new game, is it necessary for the company to advertise a core spell expansion pack so soon?
Did the testers find deficiencies in the cards or support for play in the gameset proper? Could they not include a few proxy cards to solve minor issues?
One would think that two players should be able to fill their respective spell books from the 300 some cards.
I'm new to the deck building mechanism, and bought Mage Wars specifically because I believe it wouldn't be a CGC money sink, trying to purchase cards at random.
Will it be necessary to buy the expansion to play the game in a robust way?

Each card sheet supposedly hold 110 cards so the base game is three sheets, the extra tome is one but it's not the perfect setup there either but it's what could be done on one sheet.
Personally I would had hoped base game + real expansions would solve it anyway but what do I know.
I came here looking for a complete list of the cards in the base game. I don't need pictures, just how many of each and their name.
