Thread: Spirit Island:: Strategy:: Help me out with Lightning's Swift Strike

So I've been managing to spread a love of Spirit Island in my gaming group (Thanks to Mark Bigny for introducing me to it) and by and large all the spirits have found their niche, even Sharp Fangs found two players who can somehow make him work.

The only two we all seem to struggle with are River Surges in Sunlight (Who we're slowly starting to get a handle on) and Lightning's Swift Strike, who seems to just result in a frustrating and handcuffed experience for the player involved.

In short LSS feels like it never has enough energy to play much of anything, and certainly not enough energy to play enough cards to trigger it's innate power. Often the player just ends up as a kind of "Buffbot" where they play the card making another spirits powers fast, reclaim and then play it again. And being a support spirit can be a LOT of fun, but it feels like a lot of wasted potential for LSS.

So help us out here please. Is he more supportive than we figured? Does he start out highly offensive and then transition into a more supportive role as the game progresses?

Any input would be welcome.
