There are two types of cards in VtES: Crypt cards (vampires) and Library cards (actions, modifiers, combat cards, etc).
The back side a crypt card is brown, while the back of a library card is green. This doesn't really matter though, as these two card types are separated into two separate decks at the beginning of the game.
What could matter is that the first cards of this game were printed with the text "Jyhad" on the back. The last 16-17 years or so all cards have had the text "Vampire" on them.

Aha! Thank you. I had heard there was a difference, this is what they were talking about, then.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Most of my decks have a mixture of Jyhad and V:TES-backed cards in them, and I've never found it to be an issue. When I make decks that include Jyhad cards, I do try to have some equality in the cards (i.e. I'll have half of my Majesties with Jyhad-backs and half with V:TES-backs, or I'll make the entire deck half-half, without purposely coding them by card-type), but it's not really that necessary. If it bothers you, you can use opaque sleeves. It's also pretty easy to only use V:TES-backed cards if you want to. The few cards that are only available as Jyhad-backed are either completely worthless or relate to playing for ante, and so not used in a tournament (or most other settings, really). There are some cards that were easier to get with a Jyhad back, especially if you were buying them for $5 a box back in the day, but that's not really true these days unless you buy someone's old mostly-Jyhad collection.
Thank you! That is also helpful, and answers the question I was about to ask. :D
