There are mistakes all around. L made a mistake in figuring what should be in a V2 after TI had set the bar, and K made several mistakes in how to manage a kickstarter campaign for a game that has already been released.L has owned up to their mistake (on facebook at least). It's a shame that K won't. Kolossal seems to be in defense mode. I think a big Mea Culpa would go a long way to humanize them, the campaign, and tramp down the fires.
It would be a huge breath of fresh air to see a post that outlined their strategy and admit that it has backfired. An admission of "Yes, we intended for all stretch goals to be in the final product no matter the funding, and parsed them out to generate excitement and keep you coming back to the campaign" would go a really long way to soothe people's fears of "The value for the $150 tier is variable and entirely dependent on others funding as well... something I'm not convinced they'll do". It would make me feel a lot better that it wasn't a cash grab, but a ill-advised attempt to help this thing go viral. That they don't actually view these items as extra or bonus items, but as part of what must be included for the game to be complete, while also demonstrating the value they promise for the $150 tier.
Mistakes that cannot be undone were made. "Should Have" is fun to say, but we're past that being constructive at this point. "Should do next" is where we're at now. And I think being a bit more transparent about what the plan was with an admission that it didn't work would go a long way.
