Before starting the game, I removed all of the starting equipments, and I keep any search cards a mouse keeps between missions with that mouse and not in the deck.
Last game, for instance, Filch gave Collin a whip in hopes of using it in the next chapter, but Collin wasn't used in the next chapter, thus forcing Filch to figure it out without the whip.
This way, mice, when used in the campaign almost always have 2 to 3 search cards (starting equipments plus one card they found) and whatever abilities they've picked up. I like it this way, personally, even if it does remove a few options from the search deck temporarily.
