I used to be pretty arachnophobic but I've managed to get over the worst of it, now its only nasty poisonous spiders that really freak me out.If anything, go with one of the above suggestions and paint the spiders as Pink and cutesy, just don't go with painting them to look realistic :P
I did that for my master bane spider in 1st ed, my wife kinda freaked when she saw it and thought it was real, for me it was kinda masochistic painting it up as a giant redback.
This reminds me of a hak someone made for Neverwinter Nights, where they created a new spider skin, based on the Sydney funnel web....
Yea, was not cool... those things get big and dangerous enough as it is, let alone thinking about some 10+ foot fantasy version of them...
