Ok. I thought about it all night. There is something still bugging me. Came up with yet another variant:Guard tower:
Build: 6 wood
Activate once per worker (costs work action)
Range: tiles adjacent to tower (auto hit)
Damage: 1 (ignore shields)
Cannon tower:
Upgrade: 6 ore
Activate once per worker
Range:
Tiles adjacent (auto hit)
+1 tile away roll luck dice to hit (x means failure -> hit odds: 67%)
+2 tiles away roll 2 luck dice to hit (any x rolled means failure -> hit odds: 45% )
Damage: 2 (ignore shields)
An upgrade now is more significant (extra range and damage). Which makes thematic sense (bows vs cannon ball). But a guard tower by it self is still useful (cause it also has ignore shields). I increased the upgrade cost again because of the more powerful features of the cannon tower.
Will test this tonight and post results.
