There is a very real possibility that all Season 1 universal cards are going to rotate out of the game in the near future.
YMMV with this statement. As he explains some, GW has made no statements either way about rotation (which, for those unaware of how CCG style games work, means that older cards are going to be declared unusable/illegal in certain mainstream events). It's the belief of many within the Underworlds community that rotation is going to become necessary, as it does with all CCG style games, in order to control the universal card size, better manage power creep, and deal with unexpectedly powerful combos. The reason this is seen as an eventuality is because GW has also implemented a Banned and Restricted list, limiting the cards you can use in tournament decks. For CCG style games, it's a halfway step toward rotation.
Having said that, rotation of the Shadespire/season 1 cards could still be a year even 2 away. The tricky step is figuring out when to implement it. Too soon, and you burn your current base by making a large part of their investment almost useless. To late, and you start creating a large barrier to entry to new players that can't afford to buy the current available cards fast enough.
Even with all that, as mentioned, the 5 cards are not extremely powerful cards, and all of them have counterparts that do the same or similar things available in the other sets. Healing Potion is the only one that still sees play in active decks, and will get something of a resurgence once the Ylthari warband releases this weekend, but the others were never very popular cards.
