When a hero causes sufficient damage to neutralize a villain character miniature, does that miniature's counterattack skill activate? I think it's an order of operations question. At what point is the miniature neutralized and removed from the board: before or after the counterattack would occur?

The rules say it must occur 'after a melee attack has been resolved against its possessor' and that the possessor 'must be able to target the initial attacker with a melee attack'.

I would interpret as:

If, after a melee attack has been resolved against the possessor, that possessor has been neutralised, they are no longer able to target the initial attacker with a melee attack - therefore 'no' :)
