Can you say that of the new Descent or the WotC D&D games?

I'd feel comfortable teaching Descent to anyone 10 or older; 8 or older in the case of the D&D games. They're really not that complicated, especially if you're just trying to tell the kids what they can do.

Yeah, but as Petru5 pointed out earlier, Heroquest were games that kids could learn and play on their own.

I know FFG is getting better about their rulebooks, but they are not normally 8 or 10 year old friendly. Supervised instruction as you say, sure, but not on their own. Attention spans at that age are just not that robust typically.

Besides, I would be worried that giving them a FFG rulebook might turn their young minds off of boardgames completely... ;) (I keed, I keed)
