To echo the other comments, I agree that for first timers you may want to hold off on throwing in the Wind Gambit expansion. However, it's not entirely accurate to say that the expansion messes with the end-game conditions, because you can use the airship module without the end-game conditions module. That being said, I think it's beneficial for someone to get a grasp on the core mechanics of the game and the three core unit types before adding in the airships. Good luck!
