Thanks for all the good advice!

There was one fellowship movement rule it turned out we were playing wrong- we didn't notice that you couldn't reveal in an allied stronghold when getting caught by the hunt. That would have slowed me down by one space, which isn't huge, but isn't irrelevant either.

I think it's pretty likely that the shadow player just isn't moving armies aggressively enough. In the first game the witch king didn't even hit the board until I was about halfway to the mountain.

In the second game there was one turn with zero eyes in the box and I burned rings to move the fellowship 4 times, so maybe we'll call that one a fluke.

I'll point the SP to this thread. Can't wait to play again this weekend!

That's a big deal then for the FP to have moved 4 times in one round without a single hunt roll. I'd almost say that nearly guarantees a FP win, especially if you made it through moria unscathed. And as the above poster said, you can only use 1 elven ring per round. To prevent this, the SP should put at least 1 eye in the hunt box to play it safe against a FP moving the fellowship aggressively. The SP might also need to be more strategic about which strongholds he takes. Sometimes it helps to attack strongholds of the same nation so that you avoid activating others. Attacking the DEW line (Dale, erebor, woodland realm) can also be good because they are close and taking any one does not activate the others. But in the end, its all about faking each other out about which stronghold you choose to attack (getting the FP to waste precious die mustering in the wrong stronghold) and going for weakpoints.
