With how the sales of the 1.5 edition are going through the KS is there any chance the Rise of the Ancients Races will become available at some point? Or has the lack of interest made that unlikely?

Do you mean retail or people selling their own copies?

I will likely sell mine once I get Eclipse 2nd Ed in my hands.

I have the first edition with most the expansion content but KS'ed the new version. I am just trying to find out if some of the additional races from the first edition will eventually make their way into the 2nd edition. Would hate to not see Rho Ind and others not exist in this new version.

If they do an expansion for the second edition, the missing races are probably the most likely thing to be included.

If there will be an expansion or not is probably largely dependent on the retail success of the second edition. Of course, if the game under-performs at retail, it is reasonable to guess it is because many players are waiting for the missing content. So, maybe they'd release it anyway.

I prefer the extra adrenaline I get with the full range of attack modifiers. I can mentally imagine my characters ready to do maximum damage only to perform an amazing whiff. Of course it happens to the other side as well.

I feel this also adds to the importance of managing advantage/disadvantage situations.

In the German version, the effect has a more detailed explanation than in English. The first two sentences are literal translations but then they added a third sentence: "This happens BEFORE the initial explore action [which completes setup]."

Is this the way it's supposed to be? Or doesn't it really matter anyway?

The initial explore action is always the last step of setup, so the German version seems to better clarify that.

Where you place the Town could be affected by the that initial explore, so it does matter which order you do it.

Edit: Here's the text from the English version.
Royal Backing: During Setup, after adding all other Invaders, discard the top card of the Invader Deck. On each board, add 1 Town to the land of that terrain with the fewest Invaders.

Seems legal to me.

I think it's mostly a lucky combination. I've had plenty of games in which I did not get that combination of assets. So, I don't think it's really an issue.

Hey T Owen,

thanks for the reply,

OK, maybe I wasnt clear about how the symbols work:

Wrath has nothing to do with the elements. You keep score of it on a seperate card.
if you see a wrath point on an ability card, it means spending them.
the only way, apart from the traits at LVLs 3 and 7, are when a card says "gain" Wrath points.

there are three cards that might lead to confusion:
The first is the Move 4, the lose 2 WP. This meant: if you dont have 0 or 1 WP, you can use it and only lose 1 or even none.
the second is the life-gain card. The wording might be a bit off, but it deals with the rules changing trait on LVL 7 correctly.
And the third is the Attack you can only use when you have 5 WP. You can use this, if you have 5 WP, without losing them.

Your suggestions are pretty interesting. Maybe I will think about a character who doesnt differentiate between allies and enemies. Maybe you could give him strong attacks, but he hasnt the ability to target a specific enemy, but rather his focus works like monsterfocus. Very interesting idea. Then positioning would even be more important. Hm.

Using the WP being at a specific Value more is a pretty good idea. If I would have another card that only works (or works best) if he is at 3 WP, then he would naturally try to gain that advantage too. I will definetly look into it.

aye, thanks again, best wishes, Boris

My recent acquisitions suit gaming for different time points and weights. Enjoying both Crypt and Keyforge when we want to kill 30mins.

But if I want to bite down on something serious, its KDM or Scythe. And Scythe requires far less setup and book keeping so more likely to wind up on the table if its just my wife and I :)

What in the rules makes you think you can do that? Honest curiosity.

Yano, I literally had a dream that that was a rule and woke up confused.
To make sure I was still sane, I figured I’d ask. :D Absoutey right though, not mentioned in the rule book.

If there are two elements on one line then they'd both have to be consumed to get the effect (see one of your level 7 cards for reference).

I don't use the variant, for me it's part of the game. Sure you are mad when you draw a null on a big/important attack. But don't forget that monsters can draw null too, and it's not the same things at level 6/7 when monsters perform attack 6 or more.

I have sleeved the ability cards as I use them. They get handled so much I can't see how they wouldn't start showing major wear pretty quickly.

Hi Sebastian,

I am new to Descent and RtL. My son and I played the tutorial on New Year and we loved it! We are planning to play the next scenario on this week end.

Could you give me insight on how the scenarios in RtL compared to one another? I am thinking on buying the expansions and curious to hear your experience with them. Thanks!

Yeah, I can see why you would play it that way. I guess it is a mechanics vs theme thing. Mechanically it makes sense to only heal at the beginning of the precipice phase, but thematically it doesnt. You can take all the time you want at home base resting before you leave again.

BGG will always have the separate entries for each product because they want people to be able to review each "expansion/product" separately. For example... its important for people to be able to rate and talk about Dominion Prosperity separate from Dominion base game so people can decide which expansion etc to buy. It doesn't fit a game like this as well but it is still relevant as time goes on and you add more and more.

What they just did (the combined entry) is as good as you'll get I think but can serve as a central place for everything and discussion across the series. Not to mention a central place to try and push up your BGG rating into the top 100/hotness.

The big downside is obviously you need to get people to go and rate that page and push it up the rankings... and shift discussions over to there... but this should be good for the longer term/future and avoid ratings and things being split over the seasons. Maybe in your next kickstarter update you can mention it and try to get people over to the new entry... and maybe ask people on the FB group to do so? BGG ranking will help and this move will help you in that endeavour.
