Besides moving NPC´s.....what about changing landscape?I like the idea of the fire spreading. For me this is just the beginning. I think we can expand the mechanic / theme.
He some suggestions for permanent effects or at least for a few rounds:
- Burnt acres with a wood symbol cannot produce wood anymore....so you have to think twice about starting fires 😉 You can still get wood, but only for money at the trading post or maybe from friendly townfolks, if you complete their tasks
- Severe weather effects (event cards) could influence the accessibility of acres (flooded acres, snow drift, fallen rocks, earthquake, etc.). So cannot always use the same repetitive paths to get your resources.
- No Western adventure without a gold rush....acres at the river can produce some gold (new most precious resource?).....but only a limited time because it is rare (managed by a stack of few tokens - like in Dwellings of Eldervale or Andromedas Edge).
-You can connect the theme with special gear....available in the town for increasing your luck with the dice. So you can get more dice or lower number of spots are needed. Or they make acres accessable only for you.
I refer to Toriko: new and existing mechanics need more interconnection. So we can get more realism, a "living" open world with unforeseen changes on the game board - not only one-off effects. Changing landscape, moving NPC´s and the townfolks can do that. You just need to find a manageable way to prevent complexity.
