I haven't tried it yet, but my planned solo variant was to play 2 hero decks, and 2 incapacitated heroes. The twist is the incapacitated heroes have an HP pool, just no deck (only their incapacitated powers). Not sure how that would play, but it seems like it might provide the extra targets the enemy decks are built for, but not including their decks keeps it more manageable. I suppose you could try this two player with one living hero and one 'zombie' hero (incapacitated hero with health pool).
