So it have been a week since last update, I'm kinda busy at uni as always, but I'm trying to do what i can to work on this, and scan the card and edit them so the angles are right, which is finaly done, now the hard part of removing the text is coming which i cant do since im a noob at more advanced image editing :p...First of I think we all need some clarification, on DPI!!! now for the past 2 weeks I've been trying to figure out what dpi really is, some say the higher DPI, the better quality, but guess what, ITS A LIE! only thing to determine the quality is the resolution, the DPI(dots per inch) and PPI(pixel per inch) is only a size modifier...
now look at these 2 blank cards the photoshop expert (my GF) made to the editor, can you see the difference between them?... No? Keep looking??? Still nothing? - Yup that's right, it's the exact same picture, where the first one, only have 1DPI and the second have 600DPI.
Next if you get really curious about it try to download them both and check the size, yup, its the EXACT same (120 KB)...
So after surfing confused around for 2 weeks to try find out what and how DPI changes the picture i finally reach the correct answer, DPI is a printer related thing telling the printer what size to print a image.
Now if you really curious about this size/DPI thing try to download gimp and print out both pictures, the sizes should be different for the pictures, HOWEVER most windows picture viewers, including the GDI+ (The C# API for graphical image manipulation) and the standard windows DPI is set to 96, on vista and win7 this can be changed with some hacks but is not recommended. under windows standard DPI (96) the size of an image should be 216x336 pixels to get the correct card size, try to make what ever in paint that size and print it and you'll see :)
So now what is our next step? well we still have lots of cards to edit and remove text on, and with each picture having a file size on 7-8MB we also need to change the resolution to the proper size, (from 1350x2100, to 216x336) but with the needed knowledge about the DPI we'll be fine for editing now.
Stay tuned for future updates take care!
