1. That depends. You could move from Attika to Akarnania by land (via Boiotia and Thessalia) or by sea (via Kyklades, Myrtöo Pelagos, Ionio Pelagos - or through the diolkos if you control Korinthos) if no territory is blocked by the enemy. If you use hoplites. You can move EVEN IF it is blocked when using the Proxenos (if you pay the appropriate amounts of silver), and then would end in Korkyra directly.
However, I think you mean whether Korkyra is directly connected with Akarnania, or counts as a separate island. It is the same as with Chalkis, or the different islends of Ionia - all land masses that have the same colour are considered to be connected. So no extra movement must be taken.
2. If you pass, then you are not able to perform another action for this round. The circumstances do not matter - you could be forced to pass early on, and your opponent could make a lot more actions. The game is very unforgiving that way, because if you are in that situation, you have either made mistakes or misjudged a situation...
3. Any event is only in effect for the game round it is drawn in. The only exception is if you draw the same event again during the next round (there are doubles in the different stacks).
4. You forget battles - they are the second possibility to gain inter-turn-prestige. However, gaining prestige this way can be a bit iffy. So the most reliable way to gain prestige is by annexing poleis. Do not forget that re-taking a polis will give you the prestige points once again - a very important aspect, which makes starving poleis much more interesting. But keep in mind that you cannot willfully starve a polis if you have enough wheat at the end of the round...
5. Two things here. ONLY the attacker ever gets prestige points during a battle round - the defender will never get any. And the prestige points will always come "from the bank", so the opponent will not have to pay them.
There is one exception, however (and one I regretfully overlooked while translating) - if one opponent decides to withdraw, the prestige point paid for cowardice is paid to the opponent!

I hope that helps.
