That might have been mine, lol. I canceled it in favor of Arena: The Contest - I was interested in Conan mostly for solo and co-op but Arena offered a great deal more content for the money in that regard. Glad you snagged it.

My wife and I have played 5 times against Hastur and Yog Sothoth. Won 4 times. Most games have been very close and down to the wire. I imagine You could get an unlucky Mythos draw and end up with a bunch of monsters on you and loose. But for us with teamwork and planning we have had good success. Though our 2 player games have taken 2 - 2.5 hours, so maybe we are getting a little carried away with the planning and teamwork. The game feels very tense and engaging the whole way threw. And we are usually shocked at how much time has passed because we are so engaged. I wonder if people who are loosing a lot are jumping strait into fighting Cthulhu or are not working as a team and carefully planning the triggering of there insanities? The one thing that might turn people of to this game is there is a lot to keep track of. You Have 3 abilities that level up in unique ways, discovery cards that give you abilities, tokens that give you abilities, insanities, each enemy has different abilities, different scenario actions, and different elder one advancement and end of turn effects. Personally this is not a turn off for me. This is one of my favorite games and by far my favorite co-op.

Perhaps the funniest way to explain A new hope I have ever heard. I have shared it with quite a few friends and gotten many laughes.

Awesome!

I'm a little confused on how to work this cards power. It says "bury to draw the hour." Do you draw it from the hour deck or discard pile?

I picked up a used Mansions 2nd Edition that came with some still shrink wrapped 1st Edition tile boards. There are 8 boards for the base game and they are quite large but some do punch down into the small and large tiles. It also came with 9 tile boards still shrinked as well from the Call of the Wild expansion. I can't tell if any of the minis are from these editions as I'm still going through everything.

My question is can these boards be used in the 2nd Edition game sessions or is this something I'll just have to sell/trade, etc?

Thanks

Have they said what size the various cards are in this game?

I'm thinking the hero cards would be worth sleeving at least since they would probably get the heaviest use. I have a bad tendency to be kind of rough on cards when I shuffle them, some of them inevitably get damaged.

I got as far as step two in the setup section and was ready to throw the rulebook out the window. This is the third Kolossal game I've tried and the third with an unreadable rulebook. I could deal with the overly-large mismatched font sizes and awful visual layout if the writing was intelligible but it's not.

"...takes all of the overlords from that faction..."

What are the overlords? What's a faction? The "Components" section indicates that the large cards with 40-point trackers are overlords. The cards are unhelpfully labeled "108 cards" even though there are different types. The example setup image shows some cards next to the tracker board with a matching image but those are referred to in item four as "influence cards" and again refers to the tracker mat as an overlord. All the way back to "faction" then? Step two says those are Undead, Beast, Mortal, and Spirit. I can assume these correspond to the named monsters on the mats but why should I have to? I eventually pieced it all together because the game isn't actually all that difficult to understand, which makes the wretched rules even more offensive.

There's no way a competent technical writer or editor had a hand in this mess. Van Willis is credited with "Rules Editing & Proofing" but he didn't even notice that the ampersand four lines above his credit is inconsistently not bolded when the others are. Or that "to" is not capitalized when "Thanks" is in "Special Thanks to", not to mention that there's a period after that line but none of the others and the word "and" instead of the ampersand used everywhere else. Some colons are bold, some are not. All of this is just from the "Credits and Thanks" section - I could spend all day detailing the rest of this miserable mess of a rulebook.

Oh, and my box is also falling apart before even playing and the cards are paper-thin. I have Papillon on deck to play next (two butterflies are broken right out of the gate) but I think I'm done with Kolossal after that.

Page 12. "Even if a player's fighter is defeated during the the combat, as long as that does nto trigger the end of the game, any After Combat effects of their played card still resolve."

Page 14. "If your hero's sidekick is defeated immediately remove that sidekick token from the battlefield."

So, you always remove the token immediately. But the after combat effect is still resolved. Keep in mind that the removal of the sidekick token might make the effect fizzle.

At this point, nobody can say for 100% what the future of this game will be. It seems likely that Monolith will be full steam ahead. However, they had a very rocky time with their Beyond the Monolith KSer campaign and reports were said that if BtM failed (and it did) that Monolith might be done as a company. That being said, they redirected their KSer efforts into the new Conan update and that KSer is doing well.

The problem with all that is it strongly suggests that Monolith has some serious cash flow problems. They could overcome this but at the same time, if they shut down tomorrow, I wouldn’t at all be surprised. I strongly suspect that they will be able to overcome their financial woes.

To find Shops and other players in your area I’d recommend asking on:
1. Discord: Dice Masters Online
2. Facebook: Dice Masters Unlimited
3. Reddit: Dice Masters group

Upcoming is One Big Weekend, a qualifying tournament, played at local shops worldwide on or around April 25th. Participating shops are still being organized but there is at least one in Northern California at Lakeport.

Draft product and events scheduled to return in May, 2020. Watch the news surrounding the release of Avengers Infinity Gauntlet set.

U.S. national championship is in Columbus at Origins mid-June.

World championship is in Memphis mid-October.

Enjoy.

Played this one last night - ended in a slow agonizing death:

Objective 1: 3
Objective 2: 2
Objective 3: 0

Events: 10
Hazards: 6

Facehuggers killed from the Hatchery: 2

Rare Cards Recruited: 5 (Always were an A-Hole)

KTE: 1

Total: 29

Was excited to do a challenge with the Synthetic, since it's one that hasn't been used in a while. I got through Objective 1 - although it took a while since I got a lot of recruit cards early on (Hello, 'Got Some Moves') but not a lot of attack - which made it difficult to scan and find the containment cells - but still managed to complete the objective with only 1 strike on me. Was able to complete Objective 2 fairly quickly due to the door showing up and I had plenty of recruit to open and close it. The Mega-enhanced Final Enemy showed up early on and I was doing ok against it until it got an 'Intelligence' enhancement - forcing me to discard a card at the beginning of each turn. This hurt since my deck was already pretty weak on strike and simultaneously a lot of flying aliens were coming into the Combat Zone - giving me a lot of distractions. The Final Enemy made it to the Combat Zone - but unfortunately, several other enhanced enemies started to show up due to getting pushed in to the Combat Zone, who also had Intelligence Enhancements (thanks Lambert!). At the end, I was losing 3 cards instantly out of my hand each turn and taking 3 strikes a turn - so it was a slow, but inevitable demise from there.
