Never mind Kip. Its to difficult for me. I have no clue about anything you were saying in your last post and the more I google the more complicated it looks to me. I wasted enough of your time and don't want to waste any more of it. We will be playing without the app I guess. Thanks for trying to help us.↧

This is a huge spoiler - in fact, I imagine that this whole thread will be full of huge spoilers - so if you haven't completely finished the contents of Envelope X, you should just stop reading now.For those of you who have completed Envelope X, you're probably looking for something like this:

Now, if my Berserker is stunned, one, the attack that dealt the stun (and the damage that would be required to activate the card's ability), they wouldn't, I imagine, be able to perform an Attack 2 against the enemy that dealt the stunning blow, right? And they certainly wouldn't be able to perform any Attack 2 actions against any attacks occurring during the duration of their Stun...but do they lose uses of the card? I.e., move their marker, gain any experience, but not perform the attack?
I believe so, you would spend a charge without the opportunity to attack.
Feralkid wrote:
And, if they receive damage from traps, are they able to perform the Attack 2 action? If so, if they're moving through traps, would they perform the attack exactly when they receive the damage, targeting any hex adjacent to the trao, or would they perform an attack at the end of their movement? And, if they deal damage to themselves, as they can with so many of their abilities, does the Attack 2 action occur then as well?
Yes, as Vengeful Barrage says "damage" and not "attack", everytime you take damage you trigger the card. It can be from traps, your own card, losing 1HP to change the lost card after a short rest, a carefree Cragheart and so on.

I didn't immediately read the edit and spend a good minute figuring out what "tiylrs" might be - I ended up being satisfied that I figured out it had to stand for "this is your last round" (game)s, standing for games with a set length. I actually was pleased with myself that I learned a new boardgaming acronym.

Reply: Heroes of the Colosseum:: Rules:: Re: Using Bonus Dice - NPC explanation required
by az_sunsets73
Here goes. When on the Maneuver Table the NPC rolls all of his Bonus Dice.
If a "1" is scored, he will roll that d6 when he rolls on the Maneuver Table. The rest are not used. After rolling the Bonus d6 it is discarded. NOTE - If the NPC is ensnared in a net then use the bonus die on a roll of 1, 2 or 3.
On the Net Toss Table - same process. Roll all the Bonus d6 and if a 1 or 2 is rolled - roll it on the Net Toss Table. The rest are not used. Discard after using.
Same process on the Attack Table - if score a 1, 2 or 3 then use the d6. If not, then save it. Discard after rolling.
Example - Gluteus has 5 bonus dice. I go to the Maneuver Table and roll all five. I score a 1, 1, 4, 5 and 6. The 4, 5 and 6 are saved. I roll the other two on the Maneuver Table. After used I discard them.
I win and go to the Attack Table. Gluteus has 3 Bonus Dice left. I roll all three and score a 1, 3 and 6. I keep the 6 and roll the other two on the Attack Table. After used I discard them.
Hope this helps.

There is an interesting tension between complex games and streamlined games that I don't fully understand. FGG seems to have been big on streamlining Arkham Files games but they also came out with TI4 which is not streamlined by any means IMO.Two people from the Dice Tower recently listed Eldritch Horror as one of their top 5 most overrated games:
It's a short story told as a novel spread into four movies that shouldn't have been made in the first place.
One theory I had for why AH2e has gotten such a mixed reception is that you really need to tweak how you play it to get the best experience. If you only go by the rules-as-written then there can be uncertainty on how to set it up (which "modules" to use) and so forth. But that doesn't explain why Zee Garcia loves Arkham Horror:LCG but feels EH is is way overrated.
I have very little interested in playing AH:LCG or even MoM2e but I enjoy both EH and AH. As I said, I don't fully understand what is going on. There seems to be a trend toward streamlining, which makes sense in terms of appealing to the masses, yet big complex games like TI4 and Gloomhaven have gotten rave reviews (Dice Tower, Rahdo).

Reply: Gloomhaven:: Strategy:: Re: Scenario 21 Strategy
by jgsugden
We read the scenario and will start with it next week, but it seems kind of obvious to me the best thing is to open the throne door asap and either move out of sight of the Demon Boss or become invisible. Then it will stay in the room (as it will not have someone to focus on) while the throne bounces around the circle. You should have three or four rounds to destroy it as it bounces from A to B to C.... I was looking for a thread like this to see if I was missing something that would invalidate the strategy. I do not see anything.↧
Reply: Gloomhaven:: General:: Re: Yet more questions about storage, how do I order cards?
by thesaursaur
I use this to store the monster standees: http://www.michaels.com/10468278.html. The only things I couldn't fit are bosses and stone golems. For the cards and terrain overlay I bought two organizers similar to this(but with less adjustable dividers). I took out all the dividers from one organizer and put it on the other because the cards don't need dividers and there wasn't enough for the terrain. Not the best solution but it gets the job done. The only thing that didn't fit are the 3 hex overlays. As for current characters, I use a photo storage box like this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/IRIS-4-x-6-Inch-Photo-Storage-and.... It will fit the character sheet, character mat, items, sleeved attack modifiers and sleeved ability cards. I use the YASS as a basis: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1726878/yss-yet-another-sto.... My storage solution is not as elegant but most of the things will fit. The only things that couldn't fit are map tiles which I put in an accordion folder, item shop which I use a binder for, and the tuck boxes of the classes which I use a lid less box.↧

Thanks for the review.
About the expansions, I would add a few things.
Alone, Castle Panic is a game I really don't like. So. Boring.
Wizard Tower adds a lot to the game: it changes the basic boring monsters to special monsters you have to deal with in many ways. The new spell deck is also awesome and adds a lot of fun to the game.
The Dark Titan doesn't add so much. New monsters are boring: elite goblins/orcs/trolls are normal monster with a small twist. If you make a 5+ on the die, they cancel the card used against them. The Big Boss adds a big threat, but the game becomes easier with the new allies and cards (the cavalier is awesome).
Engines of war adds a few good mechanics but makes the rules a little harder to remember. The war machines are really fun to build, and the three separate decks make choices more intresting. The new monster tokens are really fun.
What is a little sad is that with all expansions out, you basically don't need a lot of monster tokens. The game might need some houserules make it harder and use more monsters.
Without any expansion, I rate it really low.
With wizard tower, it is one of my most played game.
The two next expansions are nice but not "must buy" like wizard tower.
Seriously, if you ever try castle panic alone and don't like it, try again with the expansion, or you might ignore an excellent game.

Very well put Thibaud. I even play solo games with the Wizard's expansion for a fun challenging experience.

Thread: Star Wars: Imperial Assault:: Strategy:: Imperial Butt-Kickings Every Which Way
by rasmussen81
I'm in the middle of a combined campaign of Twin Shadows and Bespin Gambit as the Imperial Player. And I'm getting my butt kicked every way possible. I've lost every scenario and only one of them was close. And I'm a pretty experienced Imperial Player. We recently finished the base campaign and I had about a 50% win rate, which felt about right.I'm up against Mak, Onar, Davith and Gideon. Gideon is killing me by ordering everyone around him. Mak is always moving and I can hardly see him half the time. Onar takes all my attacks and just keeps coming. Davith can run like the force-wind and can get through a map like nobodies business.
So what can I do to stop their run of victories? Any advice is appreciated!

Well thank you for that. It’s also important to consider how offering something to early adopters would be executed. Asking fans to prove their possession of the first edition would not be taken well, which means this would be extended in some non-quantifiable manner wherein someone new to Eclipse could (and would) ask for the same. To this end, it would not be a benefit to 1st edition owners, but rather anyone claiming to be. Further, and this is just my personal platform, some of the fans wanting a consolation approach the topic as though it implicit. But it is not. No second edition was planned when the first was made. It’s been many years since the games initial release. And try as we (the creators and Kolossal) might, there’s so many permutations of what some consider the “only way” to approach this edition and its campaign that there will never be one that is universally approved.
The best way to honor the fans is to be honest, to incorporate their feedback from years of play to make a better game, to not create a hybrid product that will perpetually be in need of revision, and to offer an incentive for backing. I feel all of those things are factored into this new core edition and the campaign. More goals are being unlocked, most of which will comprise Worlds Afar, which will cost late adopters after the campaign. We have even tried to add value in the ship wash and the play mat, where possible. The cost is lower (barring shipping costs, of course). Second Dawn has more content, more components, and has been thoughtfully designed. It’s a beast of a box that offers more than the original at the same cost (for backers).
Again, we are sorry for any disappointment. The love is palpable from the fans, good, bad, or otherwise. We can only hope that our answers are considered from a place of experience, as creators, publishers, and people that have brought joy to many over the years in the form of games. And I truly am happy to communicate wit the public. Yes, this has been an intense campaign thus far, but it was always going to be. Please know we are listening and trying where possible while keeping the creator vision and utilizing what we believe to be best for the campaign based on literal years of experience.
Thanks so much,
Travis R. Chance

When I here such sentences like "..considered from a place of experience, as creators , publishers,..." I really get angry about you and the creator and all that little bits that could have been done better concernign usability. I get the vision and I do not want big changes, but just little tweaks that make the game better without cost. I still can not get over having to put the cubes from the player tray on the population cube tracks again. Sorry, that is not experience but incompetence. There is definitely experience in gamedesign and game publishing existent, but not in usablity and industrial design. The first presented race sheet was something I would have been ashamed of if I had created it. Sorry to be that harsh. Btw I invested about 20 hours for free in the feedback and design of the alternatives for the race sheets.
